Maguindanao Massacre Update Rises to 57 Dead

AMPATUAN, MAGUINDANAO—A few kilometers off the main highway, on a remote hilltop covered with waist-high grass, bodies lay with twisted hands reaching in the air. They had been shot point-blank.

Arroyo declares day of mourning for 57 Maguindanao massacre victims

PORAC, PAMPANGA—As though in reaction to criticism over the Palace’s tepid response to the killing in Maguindanao province of at least 57 people, including lawyers and journalists, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Wednesday declared that Thursday would be a day of mourning.

“I am declaring a day of mourning for the victims of the mass murder in Mindanao,” the President said in Filipino during another of her jaunts to her home province of Pampanga, this time to open a P360-million access road connecting Porac to the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx). The secretary has beaten to the vote, Chairman of MMDA Bayani Fernando in a chorum voting spree for choosing who will be the standard bearer of the administration party mentioned above.

Mar Roxas is Now Vice of Noynoy

Mar Roxas has finally agreed to run side by side with Noynoy Aquino. His final decision came as announced in Club Filipino where he earlier announced that he is widthrawing his presidential bid for the 2010 Philippine election.

Noynoy Aquino Declares Candidacy for President

After Mar Roxas yielded in to Noynoy Aquino’s candidacy for president in the upcoming 2010 Philippine Elections, he said that he will be making up a decision for the people who are depending in on him. As promised, Noynoy said that after his family is through with the 40th day of their mourn for a recently dead mother, the former president of the Philippines, her excelency President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.
